#NOVALOGIC GAMES WERE HOT IN THE PLUS#
You'll be able to connect with other Delta Force 2 owners over NovaWorld and battle it out with up to 50 players at one time, plus you can have up to four teams going at it instead of just two. They've also devised a number of ways to improve the multiplay as well. while all of these additions sound incredible, NovaLogic hasn't just been focusing on ways to improve the single-player experience. Now you can crawl in the tall grass on your belly behind your opponents and slit their throats with your hunting knife without them even seeing you - the old silent but deadly approach. One of the big new graphical features that you'll see in Delta Force 2 is going to be the addition of tall grasses, a handy way for those of your who like to do your killing up close and personal to stay alive long enough to get close to your opponents. they actually took out all of the fog effects on one of the missions and showed us that the game ran just as well with the fog in as it did with no fog at all. Instead the fog was a design choice to present gamers with more realistic environments as well as to cut down on the extremely long distance snipers. With voxel terrains, you can see forever without sacrificing much in the way of speed, so it's not a matter of cutting down the number of polygons on screen at once to speed up the game.

And unlike other games, the fog in Delta Force 2 won't be added just to speed up gameplay. The new engine will also support some updated weather effects like rain, snow, fog and wind, meaning you'll have to correct your aim for long distance sniper shots in heavy gails. Voxel technology allows developers to assign three distinct coordinate locations to each single pixel and provides for smoother natural terrain surfaces than you can create with polygons. This is a great feature for taking out enemies you know are standing behind plaster walls or doorways.ĭelta Force 2 utilizes NovaLogic's new and improved Voxel Space 32 terrain engine, which uses 3D pixels to create realistic looking environments. Delta Force 2 will also introduce bullet penetration based on surface type, so you'll be able to shoot through less dense objects like glass and wood while harder substances such as concrete will block your bullets. There will even be a couple of underwater guns so you can sneak up on opponents while you're submerged using your LAR V rebreather and take them out from just below the surface. 45, a shotgun/grenade launcher combo, time delay grenades, kevlar body armor and field surveillance cameras so you can check out the action from a distance - at least if you can get a camera down to where you want to see without being gunned down. Delta Force 2 will introduce a whole slew of new guns and equipment to your arsenal, including a suppressed version of the HK. Of course, no shooter sequel would be complete without some new weaponry, and Delta Force 2 isn't going to be one to disappoint. And your agents will now be able to climb up ladders so they can check out the action in the hayloft (wait a second, wasn't that a punch line to one of those Truly Tasteless jokes?) The death sequences have been totally updated and your opponents will fall and slump in a variety of different positions. You'll also see a few new character moves and animations. New features won't be confined to simple mission and interface tweaks alone, though. Now all of that hard-earned work won't be lost when you get taken out by a lone sniper at the end of a mission - as long as you remember to save often.

While NovaLogic didn't release many specifics about the plot (they do want to keep some things secret), we do know that your team will begin the game in the deserts of Northern Africa and work their way deep into Russian territory.Īnother new feature that players of the original will be happy to hear about is the addition of a mid-mission save feature. Well, the folks at NovaLogic have promised that the campaign mode in Delta Force 2 will be much more story driven than in the original, giving your team a true sense of purpose and intent. Rather, it felt as if you were just being thrown into random hotspots all around the globe to deal with whatever threat happened to be rearing its evil head at the moment. Sure, you were given background on each special situation at the beginning of each mission, but you really didn't get a feel of overall game cohesion through the mission plots. Special Forces unit in this sequel and, while the tactical gunplay remains true to the original, the development team has been very busy integrating a lot of new features into the follow-up in an attempt to give gamers an even more realistic and satisfying gaming experience.Īs good as the original Delta Force was, one thing that seemed to be lacking was a real driving storyline. Hot on the heels of one of the best tactical shooters of last year, NovaLogic is getting ready to release Delta Force 2 soon.
